A Legacy of Light
Pacific Lodge No. 16 has been a cornerstone of Freemasonry in the Fraser Valley since 1891. For over 130 years, our lodge has fostered fellowship, moral development, and community service in Abbotsford, Maple Ridge, and surrounding communities in British Columbia.
Chapter One
Pacific Lodge No. 16 was formally constituted in 1891 during a period of significant growth in British Columbia’s Fraser Valley. The lodge’s founding members were drawn from the growing communities of Mission and the surrounding region, united by a shared commitment to Masonic principles and community betterment.
In those early decades, the lodge served as a centre of fellowship and civic involvement in a rapidly developing corner of the province. Its members were active participants in local life — contributing to the social, economic, and moral fabric of their communities.

1891
The lodge is constituted under the Grand Lodge of British Columbia, establishing a Masonic presence in the Mission region of the Fraser Valley.
Early 1900s
As Mission and the Fraser Valley grow, so does the lodge’s membership and community engagement. Members contribute to civic life, social programmes, and local development.
World Wars
Despite the challenges of two world wars, Pacific Lodge No. 16 maintains its activities and its commitment to the community. Many members serve in the armed forces.
Early-20th Century
The lodge plays a key role in community events, public celebrations, and educational initiatives throughout Mission, reinforcing its reputation as a trusted community institution.
Today
More than 130 years after its founding, the lodge continues to meet, serve, and welcome new members, carrying its traditions into a new generation of Freemasonry in the Fraser Valley.
Service
Throughout its history, Pacific Lodge No. 16 has made meaningful contributions to the communities of Mission, Abbotsford, Maple Ridge, and the wider Fraser Valley. These contributions have taken many forms — from scholarships supporting local students, to charity drives, community fundraisers, and volunteer initiatives.
The lodge’s commitment to community service is not a recent development — it has been central to lodge life since the very beginning. Giving back is understood by our members not as an obligation, but as one of the most meaningful expressions of Masonic values.
Present Day
Pacific Lodge No. 16 remains a vital and active Masonic lodge in the Fraser Valley. We continue to meet regularly, welcome new members, support our communities, and uphold the traditions and values that have defined our lodge for over 130 years.
